Bobi Klintman
Cairns Taipans
Small Forward/Power Forward

Bobi Klintman elected to withdraw from the 2023 NBA Draft - where he was touted as an early second round selection - and came to the NBL to improve his game and increase his draft stock heading into 2024.

The Swede has been labelled the modern NBA "prototype" by Cairns head coach Adam Forde, and the former Wake Forest wing has hit the ground running with a young, athletic and exciting Taipans side in NBL24.

Klintman was offered an insight into just what it takes to make it on the NBA stage through Cairns' NBLxNBA tour, and has returned to Australia with a new outlook on the game - and a new intensity to get the best out of himself.

He also has extensive experience on the international stage, and he averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and over two steals in last year’s FIBA U20 European Championships.

A 20-point first half in Round 11 no doubt caught the eye of NBA scouts.

Klintman said: “The NBL is a great league that I have a ton of respect for. My conversations with coach Forde have been great and I know that he is an amazing coach who is going to help me continue to develop my game. I just want to win and coach Forde is going to put the team in a great position to do so. Over the past few months I was able to hear directly from NBA teams about what they thought about me and what I need to work on. I am excited to apply those things in Cairns and to learn. While my ultimate goal is to become a top-20 pick in the 2024 NBA draft, I truly just want to get to Cairns and do whatever I can to help the team win.”

"The Swedish forward stands at 6-foot-10 and has a fluidity that’s rare for that size. His role wasn't huge at Wake Forest, but he still makes an impact when he’s on the floor. He’s got legitimate two-way talent with a reliable jumper on the offensive end plus the length and tools to become a versatile defender on defence. On decent volume, he was a good shooter from beyond the arc at the college level."

"Bobi is an exciting NBA prospect and it will be wonderful to watch him further develop under the tutelage of Adam Forde in Cairns … I expect his smooth game and warm personality will make Bobi something of a favourite among NBL fans."

"Bobi fits my current obsession for tall athletic wings who you can plug-and-play. He is the NBA prototype for today’s game, a 6-foot-10 hooper with a 7-foot wingspan that defends one-through-five. He can push the break, shoot the three and find effective ways to score on and off the ball."
