Brisbane Next Star Rocco Zikarsky has led Australia to victory at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament, following a 71-65 win over Serbia in the competition’s final.

The Albert Schweitzer Tournament is an international U18 tournament that takes place every two years in Mannheim, Germany, with the 2024 edition the first in six years, due to Covid.

The tournament victory is the second in the nation’s history, following the 2010 edition of the competition where a squad featuring the likes of Anthony Drmic, Mitch Creek defeated the Germany U18 side 68-51 in the final.

Zikarsky was named MVP of this year’s tournament and was key in Australia overcoming Serbia to take the crown, as he scored 20 points and added 12 boards in the championship game.

Reported Next Star prospect Roman Siulepa and Tasmanian talent Jacob Furphy also scored 16 points apiece.

Zikarsky averaged 18.7 points, 11 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game across the tournament. He also shot the highest field goal percentage of any player at 73.1 per cent.
