Day two of NBA Summer League in Las Vegas saw a strong showing from Australian players and recent NBL Next Stars across multiple matchups.
New Zealand Breakers product Rayan Rupert led the charge, finishing with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals for Portland in an impressive performance against Golden State.
Also in that game, Taran Armstrong, who previously played with the Cairns Taipans, impressed in Warriors colours with 10 points, 7 assists and 4 steals.
Sydney Kings Next Stars graduate Alex Toohey added 7 points and 4 steals in the same game.
In Chicago’s clash with Toronto, Will Hickey, part of Illawarra’s championship run, chipped in with 4 points and 3 rebounds in just 5 minutes, while pick 55 Lachlan Olbrich added his first points.
Jack McVeigh, recently waived by Houston, contributed 7 points in 16 minutes for Atlanta against San Antonio, while Jack White sat out due to illness.
For Detroit, Bobi Klintman, who played with Cairns in the 2023–24 season, delivered a strong all-around game with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a win over New York.
In the same matchup, Ariel Hukporti, a three-year Melbourne United big, added 6 points and 5 rebounds for the Knicks, while Biwali Bayles, previously with both Sydney and Illawarra, got some minutes late.
There were also solid outings in Washington’s win over Phoenix, where Alex Sarr, who was a Next Star for Perth in NBL24, scored 15 points in 31 minutes.
AJ Johnson, formerly with the Hawks, contributed 11 points in 21 minutes, and Trentyn Flowers, who spent a season with Adelaide, added 13 points and 6 rebounds for the LA Clippers in their matchup with Houston.
