A new six-part documentary series chronicling the record-breaking 2019/20 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season will begin next Monday, May 24, on ESPN.

‘The Next Stars’ will take viewers behind the scenes in a never before seen look at one of the most memorable seasons in the 42-year history of the NBL. Viewers will enjoy exclusive access inside the locker room, capturing all the excitement, drama and tension of the season.

The 2019-20 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season attracted record attendances and broadcast audiences as future NBA stars La Melo Ball and RJ Hampton took to the court. It also saw the entry of new team South East Melbourne Phoenix and a controversial Grand Final Series between the Sydney Kings and Perth Wildcats.

The documentary series follows the success of ‘The Next Stars’ feature film which aired at HOYTS cinemas earlier this year. Episode one airs on Monday May 24, at 6:30pm AEST on ESPN.

NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “The 2019-20 season was an historic one for the NBL and now fans can now relive the season like never before.

“The Next Stars feature film earlier this year focused on the Next Stars program but the six-part documentary series will take a broader and deeper look into the NBL season with more never before seen footage and exclusive access.

“I’m sure all sport fans will enjoy `The Next Stars’ as the curtain is pulled back on one of the world’s best basketball leagues during a season like no other.”
