NBL24 Next Star Alexandre Sarr has produced a strong defensive performance in France’s opening game of the U19 FIBA World Cup and played a key role in France’s 20-point win over China.
He scored nine points on just 4/11 shooting from the field, but it was on the defensive end where the seven-foot centre shined.
Sarr pulled down a game-high nine rebounds – four offensive- and grabbed three steals and one block.
Despite the tight nature of the clash in the opening three quarters, France blew the game out with a 25-9 fourth term.
Five of Sarr’s nine points came in the decisive final quarter.
France’s two remaining group games will be played against Spain and Canada.
