The final round of the NBL24 regular season saw Cairns and Adelaide fans bid a potential farewell to Bobi Klintman and Trentyn Flowers, who will now assess whether they want to keep their names in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.

Klintman started in Cairns’ final round victory over ladder-leaders Melbourne, and played a solid role in ensuring the Taipans ended their season with the club’s first ever regular season sweep of United.

The Swede’s character was praised by head coach Adam Forde in an interview with NBL Media in the week leading up to the clash with United, and he ended the game with nine points and four rebounds from just under 19 minutes of game time.

Three fouls in the first quarter limited his impact early in the game, but he showed the restraint to continue to make an impact on the floor without fouling out.

He ended the season having played 23 games and averaged 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.

The end to Flowers’ NBL24 campaign has been a frustrating one, as a pair of injuries have restricted the athletic wing to the bench for the latter part of the season.

A neck injury saw Flowers miss the final two rounds of the season and he played 18 games over the course of the regular season. He averaged 5.2 points on over 45 per cent shooting, and 42 per cent shooting from three.

He became a fan favourite in Adelaide and had some incredible individual acts of brilliance throughout NBL24.

The season of Brisbane’s Rocco Zikarsky has also been brought to a close after the Bullets’ loss to New Zealand and Sydney’s win over South East Melbourne saw his side finish outside the Finals positions, on percentage alone.

Zikarsky played just three minutes off the bench in the must-win clash, however he ended the game with a team-high two blocks despite his limited time on court.

The 17-year-old’s season has ended with him appearing in 27 of Brisbane’s 28 games for the season. He averaged 3.2 points and one block per game in his first professional season.

Alexandre Sarr starred for Perth in front of a reported high number of NBA scouts in Round 20, but couldn’t quite inspire the Wildcats to victory in the final round.

The potential number one draft pick added 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks in Perth’s defeat to Illawarra, before following up with 17 points, four rebounds and two blocks against Tasmania.

He was also named as the third-place finisher in the NBL’s Next Generation Award at the league’s MVP night on Monday, which is an award voted on by players and coaches and given to the best player under the age of 25 in the NBL.

Alex Toohey returned to Sydney’s starting lineup in the Kings’ do-or-die clash with South East Melbourne, and starred in their biggest victory of the season.

Only former league MVP and Atlanta, Milwaukee and Portland guard Jaylen Adams attempted more shots than Toohey for the Kings in their dramatic 55-point victory. He ended the game with 16 points on 7-11 shooting, and pulled down six rebounds.

Melbourne continued to heavily rotate its side to ensure all players received good burn heading into the Finals campaign, and Ariel Hukporti was one of Dean Vickerman’s most trusted talents on the floor over the team’s final round double-header.

Hukporti came off the bench to play more minutes than any other player in his side’s defeat to Cairns, and he finished with 15 points on 7-8 shooting and seven rebounds.

His active hands and rim protection were also on full show as he added two steals and three blocks in the defeat.

He then played over 17 minutes as Vickerman once again shortened Melbourne’s rotation in United’s final game of the season against the Hawks. He added four points and five rebounds in the five-point win.

Mantas Rubstavicius continued his run in New Zealand’s starting lineup in its do-or-die final round clashes against Brisbane and Adelaide, and a shoulder injury to Will McDowell-White could push the Next Star into an even more key role for the Breakers’ Finals campaign.

Rubstavicius scored 12 points in the win over Brisbane, before he added eight points and seven rebounds in New Zealand’s final-day defeat to Adelaide.

AJ Johnson played seven minutes from the bench in Illawarra’s Finals-clinching win over Perth. The athletic guard pulled in a couple of rebounds in the win that secured the Hawks’ place in the top six after their indifferent start to the season.

He then remained on the bench in the defeat to Melbourne to close out the round.
