While the NBL Next Stars team fell agonisingly short in the championship game at the Adidas Eurocamp, South East Melbourne Phoenix Next Star Malique Lewis was selected in the Starting Five after his impressive performances across the weekend.
The 20-year-old did a bit of everything for Phil Handy’s squad, showcasing his elite ability to finish in transition, defend, and rebound at a high level.

The Next Stars opened their campaign in style, edging out Team Eurocamp 2 by five points, with Lewis turning heads by posting 18 points and 8 rebounds.
A 12-point win over Team World secured their place in the championship game. While Lewis struggled from the field, he still made an impact across the board with 5 rebounds, 2 steals and a block—finishing with a +7 in his 23 minutes on court.
In the final, the squad battled hard but ultimately fell to a 3SSB side stacked with highly-ranked American prospects. Lewis was again one of the standouts, recording 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.
