Mojave King is the second member of the Next Stars program to be selected in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Former Adelaide 36er and Cairns Taipan Mojave King became the second former NBL player to be selected in the 2023 NBA Draft when he was taken by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 47th overall pick.

King joined the NBL in NBL21 as a member of the Next Stars program. After completing one season with the Taipans he headed to Adelaide for NBL22 before moving on to the NBA G-League Ignite.

Despite being drafted by the Lakers, King’s draft rights are held by the Indiana Pacers after a trade.

NBL23 Next Star Rayan Rupert was the first NBL player selected in the draft when he was taken by Portland with pick 43.
