A host of rising Australian youngsters are being eyed by the GM of NBL Next Stars Recruitment, Liam Santamaria.

Speaking to Newscorp at the U18 National Championships in Brisbane, Santamaria said the league is closely monitoring the local Australian talent.

“From a Next Stars perspective, we’re continuing to track the development of numerous young Aussies, many of whom are competing at this event,” Santamaria said.

Josh Giddey came through the Next Stars program with the Adelaide 36ers and was then selected with pick 6 in the 2021 NBA Draft. He had 31 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds for the Oklahoma City Thunder today in the NBA Play-In tournament.

Queensland’s Rocco Zikarsky and Roman Siulepa, and Victoria’s Dash Daniels and Luke Fennell, were names reported by Newscorp that are on the NBL’s radar.
